It was a cold, sparkly Christmas morning when Curious George woke up with a big question in his heart. "What is Christmas like today?" George wondered as he rubbed his sleepy eyes and peeked out the window. Snowflakes danced like tiny stars, and the house smelled like cinnamon. The tree in the living room shimmered with twinkling lights. The Man with the Yellow Hat was humming a merry tune while putting presents under the tree. "Good morning, George!" he said. "Are you ready to explore?" "Yes!" George cheered, jumping up. He tied his scarf, grabbed his little red hat, and bounded into the room. His eyes grew round when he saw a big, glittering star on top of the tree.

How does the star sparkle so much? George asked, touching the soft tinsel. He poked a little, and tinsel tickled his fingers. The star didn't stop sparkling, but it made George giggle. Outside, the neighborhood was busy. Children dragged sleds, neighbors hung wreaths, and a gingerbread house sat on a porch, smelling sweet. George's curiosity tugged him like a tiny rope. He wanted to see everything. He scampered out the door and followed a trail of cookie crumbs.

The crumbs led to Mrs. Lee's kitchen, where a plate of warm sugar cookies waited. "Hello, George!" Mrs. Lee smiled. "Would you like to help?" George's eyes lit up. He worked gently, pressing candy eyes onto gingerbread men, while Mrs. Lee told him about holiday recipes and family songs. When George accidentally put a candy heart on his own nose, everyone laughed. George laughed back and shared the cookie crumbs with a little dog outside, who wagged his tail like a bell.

George's next question popped up like a bubble: "Where does Santa put all the presents?" He hurried to the mailbox and saw a tiny note: 'To Santa's Helpers.' It pointed toward the old community hall. George could not resist. He followed the note.

At the community hall, tables were covered in ribbons and boxes. People were wrapping presents for children who might not get many gifts. George saw a big pile of shiny paper and heard Mrs. Cruz singing softly as she tied a bow. "Can I help?" George asked. He learned how to fold paper just so. Sometimes the tape stuck to his fur, and he had to peel it off gently. Mrs. Cruz showed him how to make bows, and George made the silliest bow of all — it flopped and folded like a sleepy kitten.

Just then, George spotted a small, lonely box at the corner with a card that read, 'From Santa, for someone new.' George wondered who might be new. He remembered Mr. Thompson who lived across the lane. Mr. Thompson had just moved in and hadn't yet decorated his house. George climbed up a little stool and peeked through the frosted window. Inside sat a single chair and a small lamp. A tiny hat lay on the pillow. George felt a tug in his heart. "Maybe Mr. Thompson is lonely," he thought.

George hurried back to the hall and whispered to the Man with the Yellow Hat about his idea. The Man with the Yellow Hat smiled. "Why don't we make this new neighbor a special surprise?" They wrapped the lonely box in sparkling paper and put a bright ribbon on top. George added a hand-drawn card covered in thumbprint snowflakes. Then, with a little team of helpers, George and the Man with the Yellow Hat carried the gift across the snowy street.

When Mr. Thompson opened the door, his eyes got very round. "Oh my! For me?" he said softly. He invited them in. His house seemed warmer with the gift, and he smiled a smile that warmed George like the sun. "Thank you for thinking of me," Mr. Thompson said. George felt a happy bubble rise in his chest.

On their walk back, George noticed a string of lights was tangled around a mailbox. "Oh no!" he said and quickly helped untangle them, humming the song Mrs. Lee had taught. Neighbors waved and said thank you. George felt proud that his curious little fingers could help. Back at home, the tree looked cozier than ever. The Man with the Yellow Hat poured hot chocolate while George set the star on top of the tree with a playful little hop. They opened the door to the porch and listened. Friends were singing carols, and Mr. Thompson was there too, singing the second verse. George clapped his hands and joined in the carol. His voice was small but cheerful. The stars above twinkled like the star on the tree.

That night, before bed, George thought about the day. He had asked many questions. He had peeked, poked, and wandered. His curiosity had led him to helpers, cookies, bows, and a new friend. But more than that, his curious heart had helped other people's Christmas feel brighter. The Man with the Yellow Hat tucked George in and kissed his forehead. "You made the day special, George," he said. George yawned a big, satisfied yawn. "I asked a lot of questions," he said sleepily. "And I helped a lot of people." The star on the tree shimmered one last time. George smiled and whispered, "Merry Christmas." He drifted to sleep, dreaming of snowflakes, singing, and new friends. And when morning came, George was ready to ask new questions again, but he knew one thing very clearly in his little monkey heart: being curious leads to wonderful discoveries, and being kind makes those discoveries sparkle like a star.
