I Dont Know Yet
A young boy feels pressured to make decisions about everything right away but learns from his friends and a gentle dragon that it's okay to say “I don’t know yet.” Through their support and patience, he discovers that taking time to grow is part of learning and dreaming. The story encourages children to embrace curiosity and the power of patience.
Leo, a thoughtful 6-year-old boy, stood in the playground with one hand scratching his head. He felt a little worried because everyone was asking him what he wanted to be when he grew up. I’m not sure yet, Leo whispered to himself with a gentle smile, feeling a little rushed. His friend, Mia, noticed and came over with her bright notebook. It's okay not to know right away, she said with a kind smile, ready to help.
Leo looked at Mia, feeling relieved but still unsure. What if I pick the wrong thing? he wondered aloud. Mia nodded, her eyes shining with understanding. You don’t have to decide right now, she said. Just then, a small dragon with turquoise and light blue scales, standing nearby, waved its hand cheerfully. Take your time to learn and grow, the dragon said with a calm and friendly smile.
The dragon introduced itself as Nimbus and explained that even dragons don’t know everything at first. We grow and learn, just like you! Nimbus said with a wink. Leo listened carefully, feeling lighter. Mia started writing in her notebook, helping Leo think about things he liked. They drew pictures of stars, books, and trees, imagining dreams without needing the perfect answer today.
Later that day, Leo tried telling his parents he didn’t know what he wanted to be yet. They smiled warmly and gave him a big hug. That’s perfectly fine, his mom said. Everyone learns at their own pace. Leo felt a new kind of happy inside, knowing it was okay to just explore and wonder. He looked forward to finding out more every day, little by little.
The next morning, Leo, Mia, and Nimbus met again under a big tree. Let's think about all the things we like, Mia said as she opened her notebook. Leo shared how he liked drawing, running, and asking questions about the stars. Nimbus nodded wisely, reminding them, It’s great to try many things before choosing your own path. The friends laughed and dreamed together, feeling free to say, I don’t know yet.
As days passed, Leo started to enjoy not rushing. He explored new activities, from painting to playing soccer. Each moment was a chance to discover something special. Mia cheered him on, always ready with her notebook and questions. Nimbus reminded them both that growing meant learning patiently, one step at a time.
One afternoon, Leo looked up at the sky filled with twinkling stars. Maybe I want to learn about space, he said softly. Mia wrote it down excitedly. Nimbus smiled, That’s a wonderful idea, and it’s okay if you change your mind tomorrow. Leo felt proud to say his thoughts aloud without fear. Saying I don’t know yet had helped him find new hopes.
At the end of the day, Leo hugged Mia and Nimbus warmly. Thank you for helping me feel okay not knowing everything yet, he said. Mia smiled, We’re friends who grow together. Nimbus waved goodbye with a patient smile, And remember, every ‘I don’t know yet’ is a start to something new! Leo felt excited about tomorrow, ready to keep dreaming and exploring.
